What is the WELFARE BENEFITS ADVICE SERVICE ?

We can help you with:

A benefits 'health check' to assess if you are entitled to a particular benefit. Advice and information on how to claim Welfare Benefits.

What can we do for and with you ?

  • We can give you practical help in filling in the Benefit Claim forms.
  • We will give you information that is accurate and up-to-date.
  • We can explain the choices you have.
  • We can help you decide what to do, but it is your choice.
  • We can take action on your behalf, if you want us to.
  • If we can't help we will point you in the right direction

The service is available to people aged 55+ living in all parts of South Lakeland and to those who care for them.

Where is it available ?

The Welfare Benefits Service is normally offered in people's own homes, but it is also available at our offices in Kendal. Our advisers will telephone to make an appointment to visit you at home, and will complete the form with you in the comfort of your armchair.

What can you expect from the service?

Whatever you tell us remains strictly confidential and will be disclosed to no-one without your direct permission. All our volunteers and paid workers meet regularly to standardise the work done and all work is supervised.

Is there a charge ?

There is no charge for this service.

Is transport provided ?

We are unable to provide transport for clients to come to visit our office, but we are able to visit clients at home.
