SHOPPING CLUBS The Shopping Club gives people the opportunity to visit the supermarket on a regular basis, to chose their own shopping, with transport provided and our volunteer driver is able to give a helping hand with the bags. What is the service? The service is available to groups of older people who find it difficult to get to the shops without help. Members are collected from and brought back to a central pick-up point by minibus. The Shopping Clubs are currently based on sheltered housing complexes together with a number of over-60s groups, but membership is open to people living nearby who can make their own way to the group ’s meeting point. The service is currently available in the Kendal,Grasmere and Ambleside areas. Unfortunately,it is not currently accessible by wheelchair users. Who do I phone? You can contact John Maguire, Support Services Manager, by wriiting to Age Concern, 17 Finkle Street, Kendal, LA9 4AB or telephoning 01539 728118. If John is not available, please leave your name and telephone number, he will return your call.
