GENERAL INFORMATION & ADVICE

What is Information and Advice?

INFORMATION: We can provide information on a very wide range of topics of interest to older people. We are available to talk to you over the telephone, in our surgeries, or in the comfort of your own home and will send out written information to confirm what we have said.

This can help make things clear and identify ways in which you can move forward and make a decision. This is usually done in a person's own home.

We can help you with:

  • Benefits you might be entitled to
  • Advice about your finances
  • Housing and property
  • Health
  • Leisure and social activities
  • Family and personal matters
  • And most other things that affect your quality of life

If we can't help we can put you in touch with people who can.

What can we do for and with you ?

  • We can give you practical help in filling in forms
  • We will give you information that is accurate and up-to-date
  • We can explain the choices you have
  • We will help you decide what to do, but it is your choice
  • We can take action on your behalf, if you want us to
  • If we can't help we will point you in the right direction

The service is available to people aged 55+ living in all parts of South Lakeland and to those who care for them.

Where is it available ?

The service is based at our offices in Kendal where a private discussion room is available for our trained volunteers and staff to talk to those who request our help. However, most of our work is conducted in the comfort of people's own homes.

Is there a charge ?

There is no charge for this service.

Is transport provided ?

We are unable to provide transport for clients to come to visit our office.
